2023 Garite Mini-Sabbatical Grants (Spring Cycle)

Anjali Nambiar, MD, a second-year Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, has been selected for her project “Advanced Training in Complex Family Planning for High-Risk Pregnancies.”
Dr. Nambiar will engage in a four-week rotation at the University of Michigan Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Planning Division in Ann Arbor, MI, and will be mentored by Charisse Loder, MD. The Garite Mini-Sabbatical grant will allow Dr. Nambiar to receive advanced training in complex family planning management techniques and counseling for high-risk pregnancies to ultimately help her continue her path as a lifelong advocate for full-spectrum reproductive care.
Oxana Zarudskaya, MD, PhD, a second-year Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has been selected for her project “Advanced training in first-trimester ultrasound with special focus on fetal echocardiogram (ECHO) and novel three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound techniques.”
Dr. Zarudskaya will engage in a four-week rotation at the Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and will be mentored by Alfred Abuhamad, MD, and Elena Sinkovskaya, MD. The Garite Mini-Sabbatical grant will allow Dr. Zarudskaya to receive advanced training in first-trimester fetal ultrasound, with a special focus on fetal echocardiography and novel 3D ultrasound techniques for prenatal diagnosis of fetal cardiac anomalies, helping her continue her path as a growing maternal-fetal medicine specialist.
