2026 PQF Legacy Award

The Perinatal Quality Foundation (PQF) ceased operations in early 2024 and donated its remaining funds to the Foundation for SMFM, stipulating that they be used to establish a grant focused on promoting quality and safety in obstetrical care. The funding is intended to support team projects applicable at the patient care level. In 2025, we received 13 applications for this new program.

Today, we are pleased to announce the recipient of the first annual PQF Legacy Award, Raina Meka, MD, and colleagues at WashU Medicine in Saint Louis, MO. Their project, RAPID-PPH: Real-Time Risk Assessment and Prophylactic Interventions for Decreasing Postpartum Hemorrhage, aims to reduce their historically high rate of postpartum hemorrhage by incorporating real-time automated risk factor alerts into the EHR and implementing high-dose oxytocin prophylaxis for patients at medium or high risk.

Congratulations, Dr. Meka!
