2022
Mark Clapp, MD, MPH

Dr. Mark Clapp, Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School, is the recipient of the 2022 Foundation for SMFM Bridge Funding Award, sponsored by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Foundation. Dr. Clapp is a physician-investigator and maternal-fetal medicine specialist whose research is focused on developing, testing, and implementing innovative strategies to improve maternal and newborn outcomes during childbirth.

The Foundation for SMFM Bridge Funding will enable Dr. Clapp to design and develop an automated, electronic health record (EHR)-integrated alert system to re-orient care teams to a patient’s evolving risks of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) immediately prior to delivery without significantly increasing non-clinical task burdens for staff. This award will serve as the basis for future work, specifically an R01-funded multi-center pragmatic clinical trial.
