Rachel Humphrey, MD

2002 SMFM Foundation Scholarship
Currently at AdventHealth Medical Group in Orlando, FL

What was the most memorable part of your Foundation-funded project or experience as a Foundation awardee?

Definitely presenting my research at the SMFM meeting in Reno in 2005.  It was a great time when I could see the culmination of all of the research I worked so hard on.

If you received funding for a research project, are you still involved in that area of research?

No.

How did the award influence your career?

It gave me a deep appreciation for all the work that goes into publications and research in general.  I learned more about my strengths and limitations while working in a basic science lab.

What lessons (e.g., personal, professional, life, etc.) did you learn that you would like to pass on to future awardees?

I hope that future awardees will pursue their dreams of improving the health and lives of women and their babies.

Did you submit an abstract for #SMFM20?

No.

Where did you do your MFM fellowship?

Washington University in St. Louis.

What do you like best about being an MFM?

I love being able to connect with patients on a daily basis.  I derive great joy and satisfaction from teaching patients how best to care for themsevlves and their unborn babies during thier pregnancy.  I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to learn something new every day on the job.

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?

I hope to still be working hard caring for patients on a daily basis.
